Eating Healthy During The Holiday


Friends, eating healthy is super important as you get older. Especially, if you are dealing with any ailments. It's better to switch up your eating habits for the better rather than waiting until it's too late.

I would say that I eat moderately healthy on a daily basis - there's always room for improvement. I eat healthy mainly because I don't have another option. I have to maintain a particular diet for my health, which forces me to be discerning about what I eat on the day-to-day. 


That said, when it comes to the holidays I treat myself. It's not everyday that I get to enjoy greens, beans, potatoes, peach cobbler etc. Don't get it wrong, I never go overboard. But life is about balance. If you are living a strict lifestyle everyday, you have to learn to treat yourself from time to time.

I 1000% agree with Iesh. Unfortunately, I also have to watch what I eat because of health issues (getting older a trip ain’t it). And honestly, I’m nervous about this holiday season. This is my first one, with my dietary restrictions. I’ve been doing a decent job at sticking to my meal plan, but I don’t know how much self control I’ll have being surrounded by my favorite foods and spirits.

One thing I’m banking on is my process of disassociating unhealthy food and alcohol with having a good time.I’ve learned on my health journey that I gravitate towards certain foods and drinks because their attached to some of my best memories. However, those moments would have been just as special if those things weren’t involved. 


Don’t get me wrong, I still love my fav foods and spirits, But, I love my body more and that comes with abstaining from some things at times. So y’all pray for me this holiday season, I know there is going to be plenty of temptation.
